T Construction is a multidisciplinary construction company headquartered in Johannesburg, driven by capability and the credentials to take on some of South Africa's most complex infrastructure projects.
We operate across building works, civil engineering, infrastructure, roads, and earthworks, offering clients a fully integrated, end-to-end delivery model from design through to completion. Our CIDB Level 9 grading places us among a small group of contractors qualified to tender for the largest projects in the country, and our ISO 9001:2015 certification reflects the standard we hold across every one of them.
With completed projects across five provinces, we have grown from a local operation into a trusted national infrastructure partner, serving both public and private sector clients. Our portfolio spans schools, clinics, student accommodation, roads, and civic infrastructure. As a Level 1 BBBEE contributor, transformation is not a compliance exercise for us. It has been a core value since the day this company was founded.
A Foundation Set for Scale
T Construction's story begins in 2008, on a building site in the North-West province. Our founder, R.A. Surty, had spent many years working as a property developer in Rustenburg. When the recession hit and development slowed, he faced a choice. Rather than stand down the team depending on him, he found a way forward by registering the company Thaw Trading and Investments 005 CC, and taking on subcontracting work in low-cost housing, alongside an established contractor.
This was not about ambition, but a decision rooted in responsibility.
That instinct, to show up for people, and to find a way forward when conditions are difficult became the foundation upon which T Construction took root. R.A. Surty established a culture centred around people, relationships, and a simple belief: how we treat people determines what we are able to achieve together. The growth of the company, the national footprint it has formed, all of it flows from the values modelled at the beginning. That story is still being written. And those values continue to serve as the foundation upon which we build.
T Construction's rebranding from Thaw Construction signified a bold progression that reflects our growth, ambition, and unwavering commitment to technical excellence, trust, and transformation.
